RAIL2RAIL® PROGRAMS PROVIDE DISCOUNTED TRAVEL OPTIONS FOR FREQUENT TRAVELERS
Rail2Rail® is a cooperative program provided by Caltrans working in partnership with Amtrak, Metrolink, and COASTER which offers regular pass holders more travel options in Southern California. There are currently two Rail2Rail programs available.
Rail2Rail® Amtrak California and Metrolink
Pacific Surfliner Pass Holders
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner* monthly pass or 10-trip ticket holders may ride any Metrolink train within the station pairs on their pass at no additional charge.
Please review the policy for unaccompanied minors traveling on Amtrak that applies when travelling on Pacific Surfliner trains.
Metrolink Monthly Pass Holders
The Rail 2 Rail® program allows Metrolink monthly pass holders along the Orange and Ventura County corridors to travel on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains within the station pairs of their pass at no additional charge, including Saturday and Sunday. Metrolink passengers simply show their monthly pass and board any Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train or Thruway bus to their destination. This offer is not available Metrolink passengers with one-way, round trip or 10-trip tickets.
All Metrolink ticket types are accepted on Amtrak trains between Burbank-Bob Hope Airport and Los Angeles Union Station. This also includes shared service trains, Metrolink 158/Amtrak 768 and Metrolink 153/Amtrak 799.
Please note: The Rail 2 Rail® program does not include travel on Coast Starlight trains.
Amtrak California/Metrolink Rail 2 Rail® Blackout Dates
Rail 2 Rail® blackout dates are Wednesday, November 24; Thursday, November 25 and Sunday, November 28, 2010. Metrolink monthly passes will not be accepted for travel on Pacific Surfliner trains during the blackout dates.
*Amtrak single and round-trip tickets are no longer accepted on Metrolink trains as part of the Rail2Rail program (effective 8/1/09).

Rail2Rail® Amtrak California and COASTER
For COASTER passengers, the COASTER Rail2Rail upgrade more than doubles your travel options without doubling the price.
For as little as $59 a month, the COASTER Rail2Rail upgrade allows COASTER monthly pass holders to board select Amtrak California Pacific Surfliner trains - doubling the number of daily trains available to Oceanside, Solana Beach or San Diego.

The COASTER Rail2Rail UPGRADE offers:
