Mammoth Lakes (Seasonal)

Mammoth is BACK!

And for a limited time, Amtrak California is taking you there!

Looking for that perfect vacation spot? Now’s your chance to get away from it all this summer and head to California’s premier mountain resort - Mammoth Lakes.  From now through September, Amtrak California has expanded its Yosemite National Park Amtrak Thruway bus service to include Lee Vining, June Lake and Mammoth Lakes.

Whether its a pampered retreat for you, or an adventure for the whole family - there's  something to do for everyone.

For outdoor enthusiasts, summer activities abound:

• fishing • hiking • biking
• golfing • sightseeing • arts & culture
• camping • birding • swimming & skiing
• climbing • horseback riding • hot air ballooning
• photography • Bodie State Park • canoeing/kayaking

Scenic Gondola - The summit of Mammoth at 11,053 feet is perhaps the most stunning view you’ll find in California. Enjoy 360 degree views of over 400 miles of high altitude peaks. But don’t be fooled by the remote elevation – once you reach the top you’ll discover there’s plenty to do. From the Top of the Sierra Interpretive Center to the Top of the Sierra Café, you’ll be amazed at what you find above 11,000 feet.

Entertainment - Mammoth Lake's extensive array of boutique shopping, fine restaurants and lively watering holes, will keep you hard at play long after the sun goes down. Check out Mammoth Lake's schedule of events for an impressive line-up of shows and festivals such as the Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee, Music Fest, and Mammoth Festival, just to name a few.

Shopping - The Village is the headquarters for Mammoth Lake's best selection of California lifestyle products, with all hottest trends and the top brands. Whether you’re looking to outfit yourself for an adventure on the mountain or a night out with friends, Mammoth Lakes has a variety of shops to help you look your best.

Dining - Mammoth Lakes offers a wide selection of dining experiences. Dine in or carry out, our restaurants cater to your every need. Mammoth Lakes restaurants offer an array of mouthwatering cuisine where you can romance a loved one or take the entire family. End the day with a nightcap while dancing the night away. GETTING THERE

From the south (Bakersfield), take Amtrak California's San Joaquin train 701 to Mammoth Lakes via Merced. From the west (Bay Area), take San Joaquin train 712 to Mammoth Lakes via Merced. Once at Merced, transfer to a comfortable, air conditioned Amtrak Thruway bus for service to Mammoth Lakes (provided by YARTS). This bus stops at Yosemite, where you’ll have enough time to get out, walk around, and explore, before continuing on to Mammoth Lakes.

Amtrak California has several “official” stops along this route, with the final stop of Mammoth Lakes located at Mammoth Mountain Inn. However, this bus stops at multiple locations in the Yosemite and Mammoth Lakes area. Passengers are welcome to deboard (or board) at any of the stops along the route (between Merced and the final stop at Mammoth Mountain Inn).
