Rail 2 Rail
Rail to Rail is a joint program between Amtrak, California Department of Transportation (Division of Rail) and local commuter rail agencies in Southern California.
Rail to Rail permits month pass riders on Coaster or Metrolink to travel on any train that comes into their station going to their destination, regardless of whose train it is. At the same time, Amtrak passengers waiting for a Pacific Surfliner may board a commuter train if it is the next train for their destination.
No fine print, that's all there is. Just be aware that Amtrak California's Pacific Surfliners and local commuter trains don't always make the same stops. Commuter trains make more stops than Amtrak California's Pacific Surfliners do.Other than that, just climb aboard the next train out, sit back and enjoy not being caught up in traffic and congestion.
