Kids 'n Trains Group Conduct and Chaperone Guidelines
Amtrak California carries thousands of passengers each year, many of which are business professionals or vacation travelers. All passengers traveling on Amtrak California's trains and Thruway buses expect a relaxing and enjoyable trip. It is the responsibility of each chaperone to help ensure a smooth trip for all travelers (not just those in their group). Each adult chaperone should have a copy of and understand the Group Conduct and Chaperone Guidelines. Chaperones should make sure that each passenger in their group observes the Group Conduct and Chaperone Guidelines at all times.
1. Group leaders and adult chaperones are responsible for the conduct and supervision of their group at all times while on Amtrak California trains and buses, as well as in and around train stations and bus stops. Railroad personnel must give their full attention to the operation of the railroad and will not be able to assist in the supervision of your group.
2. Be sure to arrive at your departure location(s) at least one hour prior to your departure time. Trains and buses will not wait for groups or individuals who arrive late. Your group may be turned away if it arrives too close to departure time. Be prepared to board your train or bus prior to your scheduled departure time.
3. Before boarding, the group leader should identify the group to the train conductor and/or bus driver. The conductor or other railroad personnel and/or bus driver will provide your group seating instructions. Please make sure your group cooperates and follows all directions.
4. Please keep your group together and in their seats as much as possible.
5. Avoid crowding aisles and passageways between cars.
6. Food and beverages are permitted on Amtrak California trains and buses. You may bring your own or purchase food and beverages from the Café Car aboard any Amtrak California train. (Menus are subject to change without notice).

NOTE: Please limit the number of students (18 years of age or younger) visiting the Café Car at any one time to five (5) people. Students must be accompanied by the group leader or a designated chaperone at all times. For your convenience, the Café Car accepts cash, debit cards and most credit cards.
7. Music players and other electronic devices are allowed when used with earphones or headsets.
8. Please use trash and recycle receptacles and keep the area around your group clean and free of debris, especially when exiting the train or bus.
9. If you need assistance during your trip, please feel free to contact the conductor or other on-board personnel.
10. When your group exits the train, follow the conductor's instructions. Appoint one or two people to follow behind the group and check the seating areas and overhead bins for any items that may have been left behind. Amtrak California cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.
11. Most importantly - HAVE FUN!
