The Grass Valley Amtrak Motor Coach Stop is located at City Hall, 125 E. Main Street 95945. Under a recent agreement between the Capitol Coridor Joint Powers Board (CCJPB) and Gold Country Stage, the Amtrak Motor Coach has been replaced by local transit service.

You still purchase an Amtrak ticket to GrassValley, but you will transfer to a Gold Country Stage bus in Auburn, NOT an Amtrak Motor Coach. If you arrived in Auburn by Amtrak Motor Coach, you will change buses. The Gold County Stage also serves other communities along State Highwy 49, and unlike the previous service, can be used for local transport between Rte 49 communites.

This stop is not staffed by Amtrak, thus no tickets are sold here, nor is there package express or checked baggage service. The nearest station offering those services is Sacramento. Tickets may be purchased locally from an Amtrak travel agent or from Amtrak 1-800-USA-RAIL, or on the web from Amtrak

Grass Valley was established during the middle of the 19th Century and has retained much of the architecture and charm of that period. The central area contains many old buildings rehabilitated and restored -- and in productive use every day. Visit the Chamber (in person or on line) for information about places to go and things to do.

Outdoor activities including camping, hiking, hunting and rafting all occur in the surrounding mountains. A favorite pastime of visitors to the area is visiting antique shops!
