The San Bernardino Amtrak Station is located at 1170 W Third Street, zip = 92410. It is currently unstaffed by Amtrak, thus no tickets are sold there, nor can baggage be checked from or to this station. The nearest stations offering those services are Los Angles or Fullerton. In addition, the building is closed, so there are no restrooms or enclosed wating areas. To provide a more convenient location for night time Amtrak San Joaquin passengers, Amtrak California has added a second stop for night time San Joaquin Motor Coach service at the MacDonald's Restaurant, 699 Second Street, see photo at right.

Amtrak has provided local, interstate, and transcontinental service at San Bernardino since Amtrak's inception in 1971. At the present time, Amtrak trains operate west to Los Angeles, northeast to Needles and on to Grand Canyon Country, then through northern Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois. Amtrak motor coaches connect San Bernardino to Amtrak trains in the Central Valley for places like Fresno, Sacramento, and the Bay Area. From these trains it is possible to transfer to other Amtrak trains, making the entire country accessible from San Bernardino.

In addition to Amtrak, Metrolink offers commuter hour service at the San Bernardino Amtrak Station to downtown Los Angeles and -- on weekdays only -- to Orange County. The Metrolink facilities are about 500 yards west of the old station building.
