The San Jose Amtrak station, located at 65 Cahill Street just south of the Alameda (Rte 82), is a truly multimodal station, a source of train, bus, and taxi service connections to the entire southern portion of the San Francisco Bay Area. The station is the southern terminus of Caltrain (the commuter trains operating to/from San Francisco). Buses provide local service throughout the San Jose area, while other buses connect to Santa Cruz. San Jose's light rail service is also directly serves the San Jose Amtrak Station.

Amtrak's Coast Starlight, Capitols, and bus connections to/from the San Joaquin trains stop at the San Jose depot.

The station is fully staffed with Amtrak personnel who offer ticketing, reservations, information, checked baggage, and package express.
