Amtrak serves Yosemite National Park with connecting motor coach service from Merced. The stop is at the Yosemite Lodge (see map). The schedules make an easy one day trip for persons travelling from the Bay Area or Sacramento, while a trip from southern California probably will involve at least one overnight stay at either the Park or in Merced. Overnight accomodations are also usually available if reserved in advance.

During winter months, check with Amtrak (1-800-USA-RAIL) to be sure of schedules.

Currently, Amtrak offers vacation packages priced from $199 per person (depending on the hotel selected) for a two night stay at Yosemite Park. The package includes two nights lodging at either the Yosemite Lodge, Cedar Lodge, or Yosemite View Lodge, transportation between the Amtrak station in Merced and Yosemite, and a two hour open air tram tour of Yosemite Park (weather permitting). Additional hotel nights are additional (if available). The only other charge is for train travel from your point of origin to Merced.
