Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park is located east of Visalia, CA in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. An impressive and large National Park, it is, however, overshadowed by Yosemite National Park a few hundred miles further north. While Yosemite is very well known and heavily visited, Sequoia & Kings Canyon is much less developed and -- some say -- much less commercial. It also never had Ansel Adams to help promote it.
Between Memorial Day and Labor Day Sequoia Shuttle offers several schedules a day from the Visalia Transit Center to the Park. For 2008, the Sequoia Shuttle is up and running with more schedules and more connections within the Park.
Take Amtrak California's San Joaquin trains 703, 704, 712, or 713 to Hanford and motor coach to Visalia to connect with this new service. Check to see if the shuttle is operating before booking your Amtrak tickets.
